Free CE Classes on July 15-16

HealthLINE is sponsoring the following classes as part of its annual July CE Boot Camp. The classes will be taught by staff from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, South Central Region (NN/LM SCR).

Focuses on the location, selection, and effective use of statistics relevant to health on the local, state, national, and international levels. Discusses the importance and relevance of health statistics in various contexts. Discusses the disconnect between information providers and seekers, the process of educating adults, the success of “plain language” initiatives, and the importance of text, type, graphics, space, and layout. Class: Beyond an Apple a Day: Providing Consumer Health Information at Your Library (Register)

Covers the health information seeking behavior of consumers and the role of the librarian in the provision of health information for the public. Discusses the evolution of consumer health, health literacy, and the e-patient; top consumer health sites, e-patient resources, and collection development core lists; and creative ideas for health information outreach.
